DCPS Honor Choir

What

The DCPS Honor Chorus will return this year with an all-choral final performance date of Saturday, May 7, 2021! We will feature hundreds of DCPS students from all 8 wards. In partnership with Children's Chorus of Washington and The Washington Chorus, DC Honor Chorus will feature an elementary choir as well as a secondary choir. This means there will be no Friday rehearsal during the school day. Instead, we will host a full day rehearsal starting the morning of May 7, with an evening concert. We may offer additional rehearsals in the weeks leading up to the concert if there is enough interest.

This spring, we will also pilot a new middle school song writing program in partnership with Children's Chorus of Washington and Raise Your Voice Labs. This program will bring a Labs facilitator to up to three middle schools for a series of 8-10 weekly song writing labs, each serving 5-8 students per school. Students will learn about song sourcing, writing lyrics, and composition. They will write, practice, and perform their songs at the final concert on May 7.
