ABOUT DCPS ARTS
DCPS Arts is a part of the District of Columbia Public Schools, Office of Teaching and Learning. The Arts Team works closely with all teachers, staff, and principals in the area of visual art, music, and performing art programs within the DC Public Schools. We focus on the four main areas of service below:
Teacher Support
DCPS Arts provide teacher support such as curriculum creation and design, coaching cycle, town hall, classroom support, additional opportunities from partners, and facilitate communication between Central Office and teachers.
Advocacy
DCPS Arts advocates art education for students and teachers in the D.C. area. We constantly seek opportunities to voice the needs and provide resources and strategies to our teachers and students.
Professional
development
DCPS Arts provide professional development for teachers multiple times a year. In the past, we covered PD topics such as district instructional focus, advanced arts techniques and skills, arts best practices, and digital art forms.
partnership
DCPS Arts collaborate with various arts organizations to provide resources, opportunities, and district-wide events for our teachers and students.
